Ford: 2003 Ford Taurus SEL, fuel pressure regulator, vacuum modulator

Question
Hey Ken,

Got a question about my Taurus. It is a 2003 Taurus SEL. I got last year and it has been a good car to me but lately it has been acting up. I have noticed that when I start it, the engine idles real high. Whenever I put it in reverse I have to slowly let of the brake. But even doing that the car jerks backwards as if I had pushed the gas pedal all the way down. It seems to do it everytime no matter how the weather is. I fugured maybe it was cold and thats why it was doing it. I have to leave it parked outside of the garage because im scared I will smash into something. I would really appricate some advise on this.
Thanks
Kevin

Answer
Kevin,

First, I would check my idle air control. I would also check the fuel pressure regulator which is located on the fuel rail. Also have the vacuum modulator on your transmission checked. Hope that this helps and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.
