Ford: Brake Lights, turn signals, deryck

I just picked up a 1979 half ton Ford pick up truck. The brake lights don't work, but the turn signals do. Is there a short in the wiring or what should I look for to correct the problem?
Also the truck radio has no sound, could this be a problem with the wiring in the speaker?

there could be a short.i would check the bulbs first.the bulbs have two elements in them one might be bad,and bulbs are cheap,i would start there first.if the bulbs are okay check the wiring at the taillight and work foward.as for the radio i would start with the speakers.hope this helps.
