Hi.  I own a 2001 Ford Windstar.  The door ajar light comes on sometimes when all doors are closed.  

We took the van in twice before the warranty ran out.  The first time they replaced an electrical part.  The problem stopped for a while then returned.  We brought it back a second time and I can't recall what they did, but the problem was not fixed, but it did happen less often.

We became frustrated and did not bring it back.  The warranty then ran out a few months later.  The problem has gotten worse and now the light is on most of the time.  Normally, there is no audible alarm.   However, when I brake hard or hit a bump, the audible alarm goes off, and I suspect the sliding door moves a little causing the alarm to go off.

I've heard this is a common problem with Windstars.  Is this true?  Do you know how to fix it?  Also, since the problem was not fixed during the warranty period, is it now covered?  Thanks!

Scott i ck for tsb and none found. what i would do is were the door latches to the striker is spray very heavenly sone WD40 and i mean a lot on each striker and open and closethe  each door about 15 to 20 x's this chould take care of your problem.let me know
