Ford: wont idle, taurus wagon, engine stalls

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS.  
I OWN A 93 TAURUS WAGON, 3.8 V6.  YES, I SEE THE DISTRIBUTOR SO I'M ASSUMING IT'S NOT FUEL INJECTED.  (LAUGHTER HERE)  THE ENGINE WILL NOT IDLE WHEN IT'S COLD.  I CAN BEST DESCRIBE IT AS A GIANT YO YO.  THE IDLE WILL GREATLY FLUCTUATE AND THE ENGINE STALLS. I HAVE TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR UNTIL IT WARMS A LITTLE AND THEN IT WILL IDLE ON IT'S OWN AND RUN AS USUAL.  ANY THOUGHTS?

Dale  have you replace the battery lately? what i want you to do is disconect the battery and let it sit for 15 min. then i want you to hold your foot on rhe brake for 1 min. then hook the battery back up and start the car see if this takes care of you problem what you are doing is reset setting your idle strategy. let me know if this works .also see if there are any codes in the comp. just go to your auto zone and they will ck. it for free
