Ford: 1987 ford bronco 2, ford bronco 2, eddie bauer edition

Question
First of all thank you for your fast answer to my last question concerning my bronco.....I replaced the heater core and it solved that problem.  But as always when I fix a problem another pops up.  I have a 1987 ford bronco 2 with a 2.9 liter engine and it is a 4x4 Eddie Bauer edition if that helps.  I just bought it used because I have heard nothing but good about these little SUV's.....they run forever and get great gas mileage for an SUV.... mine however has developed a problem that it has had since I bought it.  It seems that when it is running it heats up real real fast, like 5-10 minutes into driving it it is on the bottom of the "n" in normal.  So far the radiator was replaced, all new vacuum lines were put on it and a new egr valve was put on it as well as a new catalytic converter, and new fuel filter.  When replacing the o2 sensor I have noticed that I have 2 fuel filters though one near the tank that is a canister style and one near that engine that is an inline style....is that normal. And also I think it is important to note that it only has about 87,000 miles on it and it appears to be well taken care of.  The thing that really concerns me besides the heating up problem is the fact that it is currently getting about 10mpg...which I feel is really bad because I was told to expect anywhere from 16-18mpg. My father and I are stumped about this one and I would like it to run good again because I drive 100 miles back and forth to school everyday and it is killing me in gas and I am worried about it overheating and dying on me.

Thanks

Answer
ok when you say it is over heating is it boiling over or is the temp gauge just telling you it hot.if so then what you need to do is put a thermometer in the rad. with the cap off and see if the gauge reads the same.the best one is grab your mom's meat thermometer that's what I use but don't get caught .let me know.and yes the fuel filter in the black can does un screw but make sure you have the right one and put the new o ring and use also Vaseline on the o ring.
