Ford: 1997 Ford f150 heater core, heater cores, ford tech

Question
Thanks for answering this question.

1997 Ford f150 4x4

I had the original factory heater core replaced last year at 115,000 miles with another new Ford heater core.  The new heater core has began leaking and now needs to be replaced again.  Although I purchased the heater core from Ford I didn't have a Ford tech install it, rather I had an ANSI (?) certified mechanic install it for me.  The heater core itself wasn't expensive, but the labor cost was outrageous, thus, I would rather not have to pay this same expense for labor again.

I typicall do most of the automotive repairs on my vehicles myself, but didn't want to tackle this job initially.

I know this particular year Ford  F150 was the first year that the heater cores became really difficult to install.  I think I can do it if I can get some basic instruction.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer
Steve this is not an easy job you have to remove the complete instrument panal .you have air bags, body grounds ,ac has to be recover and ect.if  you are sure you want to do this let me know and i'll send you your step by step. if you don't know what you are doing this could take you  14 to 16 hrs.and you also need specal tools.
