GM-GMC: 91 gmc 1/2 ton 2wd pick up 5.7, battery cables, temp gauge

Question
QUESTION: I have a 91gmc pickup
I am having problems starting it.
So far i have replaced the fuel pump.
I have gas going into the carborator i have spark (what color should it be)It used to start on the first time but after it gets warm it takes a while. 3-5 cranks maybe. the fuel filter was replaced with in the last 6 mths. There is a new cap and a new rotor. I have replaced the battery cables. i have had starter and alternator checked both good. I am replacing the battery (almost 5yrs old and needs to be replaced)any suggestions?

ANSWER: so you did all the things i would do pretty much. only other things i can think of is the ignition coil or the ignition.

on a side note check the connection to the starter i had an issue with that but your symptoms dont necessarily fit that.

QUESTION: the starter is fine and the alternator looks like it is out of timing. the timing gear has never been replaced but what a job lol will see if that works

ANSWER: yea the starter might be fine but the connection from the battery to the starter may have an issue. my starter was ok but the connection to it wasnt. but i still dont think that is your issue.

honestly i wouldnt think it was your timing at all. but let me know

QUESTION: i replaced the timing gear and chain
the throttle sensor and temp gauge and another sensor in the carburetor
still no go

Answer
have you checked the ignition coils? it sounds like maybe the fuel has oil in it somehow just remembering you said after it gets warm its better. because then its burning the oil off. you should dump some sea foam in your carb. theres instructions on the bottle on how to do it. i have used it on my 82 eldi with the same issue and it helped.

i am kinda stumped by i will keep thinkin and if i think of anything i will get back
