GM-GMC: door lock barrel, mitsubishi magna, little bugger

Question
Ive got a mistubishi magna, but the mits. experts not available, but for my problem most cars are just about the same.

I want to put a new lock barrel in the drivers side door. I have removed the trim, which leaves a metal skin with the holes and access areas and I can see the old lock barrel but I'll be stuffed if I can get to it. The only way I see to get to it is to remove the skin as well, but Ive been informed that it shouldnt be necessary. Im a disabilty pensioner and havent got the money for a mechanic and Ive always been able to turn my hand to anything, but this bugger has got me bamboozled. Any advice would help.
Cheers

Answer
To be quite honest I have never dealt with a mitsubishi magna, however, generally lock cylinders in doors are held in one of two ways.  By some type of large clip, u shape, that essentially wedges the lock cylinder against the door and holds it in place or by some type bolt/stud and nut combination as a part of the door handle.  Get a light and look up inside and see if you can identify what exactly is holding that little bugger in there, I know they can be really tough to get to on some vehicles.  I have had to remove window tracks and regulators to get to some of them.  You may need to remove the entire door handle assembly, usually a few rods and a couple bolts, in order to access the cylinder.
Hope this helps
