GM-GMC: acceleration cable, gmc sonoma, gm dealer

Where can I purchase an acceleration cable for my 2001 GMC Sonoma Ext Cab pickup, was driving down road and the gas pedal just went to the floor by itself and upon further investigation I discovered that the cable attached to the pedal was broke.

You will certainly be able to get parts for your truck from any GM dealer.  Whether or not a place like NAPA will be able to get something like that I don't know.  You will need to call and ask.  Be sure to bring your VIN to the dealer if you go.  It will be much easier for them to look up your application.  Lastly there is always the junk yard.
