Nissan Repair: Nissan Altima stalls when I slow stalls before I stop, air control valve, nissan altima

Question
Question
My 97 altima  stalls when idle. It can happen every time I take the car out, or every other time. There is no check engine light. On the advice of four mechanics, including a certified nissan mechanic, I have done the following things: Change plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, new alternator, used distributor, new knock sensor, used ECM. Still no change. All mechanics say no fuel pump problem, and good spark. Is Idle air control valve a possibility ?

Answer
Kathy,

The throttle plate has a dampner that slows it closing.  I would have that checked first.  Second would the idle air control valve and also the throttle position switch.  The throttle position switch shows the computer you are at idle at a specific resistance.  This tells the computer to activate the idle air control valve.  The dampner slows the throttle plate closing to keep the engine from going to an over rich condition and killing the engine.  Email me back and let me know how it goes.
