GM-GMC: allison tansmissions, allison transmission, black hope

I have 2005 duamax diesel with a allison transmission.
replaced the external filter and found some fine grindings & the oil was black tis is the first filter change. my gmc
has 29500 klms.  any thoughts

Sorry not a tranny guy.  Best suggestion would be to monitor it, change the fluid and filter again at your next engine oil interval and go from there.  Fine filings are not abnormal for first break in, but fluid should not be burnt or black.
