GM-GMC: 1995 Chevrolet wont start, chevrolet 4x4, vortec engine

I have a 1995 chevrolet 4x4, with a 4.3 L vortec engine. One morning I went to start it but it would not start. The truck turns over but will not start. I noticed that none of the guages are working, no volt meter, fuel level, oil pressure and the diagnostic lights do not come on when you put the key in. Is this a bad ecm ground or a PDM problem?

Answer
If, when you put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position the engine light should illuminate on the dash.  It means the PCM is there and working.  If it's not on, either the lights burnt out (not likely) or the pcm is not functioning.  Check all the pcm fuses, check the pcm connector for power and grounds.  Go from there.
