GM-GMC: Brakes pedal, rear brakes, generic question

Question
Hi Alicia,
This is about my F-250 (96 model). Nobody's home at the Ford spot so I was hoping you could help. This is probably a generic question.
The brake pedal of my F250 does not return. When I hit the brakes, the pedal feels normal, but it does not return, and the truck continues to slow. I can pull the pedal up, and all seems well.
About 6 months ago when I noticed this I checked the rear brakes. They were good. I replaced (myself) the front pads.
Their is a vacuum to the booster. The truck seemed fixed until a few days ago. It is used only to pull a small trailer and to make dump runs. Only about 115K on it.
Where do I start? Master cylinder, booster? Isn't there another valve someplace (not sure its name or where it is).
Les Schwab wanted $600 and I can't afford it!

Answer
did you ask them what the 600 dollars was charged for?

if someone does a brake inspection and tells you they will charge 600 that means there is a problem and they should have explained what that problem was and that's where you would go buy the parts yourself and fix it...

could be the master cylinder but without seeing the vehicle i could not tell you
