Question
QUESTION: I have a 97 Jimmy, when I turn on the switch the dash no longer lights up and the fuel pump dont work also. I just bought this from a friend and I tried to put an after market radio in it and it done this then I put the old one back in and it acted fine and then it started again today, I checked all the fuses none are blown I even changed the starter because it was sounding bad. I feel the problem came when I gave my land lord a jump and then I changed the radio what would be my best route to fixin this problem, yesterday it was running fine and I took it to an auto store to get a reading and I was told no trouble codes, I dont know what relay or what to change could you help me?

Answer
Jerrell ,

Ok very good . You have already taken a couple of steps >>

So the vehicle cranks , although it does not run .
The two things you need are spark & gas
If you are getting spark you can pull a spark plug wire and carefully with a good glove on , see if you see a spark against the engine. There is a fuse box under the hood , You will find fuses in there as well . It sould like you have a fuse out for the fuel pump and also the dash lights . The relay's do not control the dash lights , Although you do have a fuel pump relay . the odds on that going out after the jump is not sound correct .You can disconnect your fuel line by your gas filter . Then have someone crank the car, Just tape the key forward . You should have gas coming out .

What exactly was the vehicle doing prior to this problem .Give me as many facts as you can
