GM-GMC: serpentine Belt cutting, power steering pump, belt tension

Question
I just put a new bracket for the power steering pump that had broken. After I finished I installed a new serpentine belt on. It seemed to be working right but when I drove out of my driveway the belt broke.Any ideas of the cause ? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hello,

Here are a few possible causes of your belt break.

1 Inspect  Belt  Incorrectly routed, adjusted(tensioned).

2 Inspect  Belt Tensioner  Incorrect belt tension will allow belts to slip or break.

3 Inspect  Idler Pulley  Worn or damaged idler/tensioner pulley.

hope this helps
