GM-GMC: GMC Yukon Rear Wiper Problem, gmc yukon, salvage yard

Question
98 Gmc Yukon. Rear Wiper.

There seems to be little or no tension on my rear wiper blade. Only the part closest to the pivot point of the arm is cleaning the window. When you look at the wiper in motion from the side of the vehicle you can plainly see that the wiper is straight up and down instead pushing against the curve of the glass. I presume the spring inside the arm is bad or weak. Do I have to have the whole assembly replaced? The GMC shop wants to replace the whole thing for $900. Can I fix it by myself? What do I need?

FYI, I replaced the blade today and the problem still exists.

Answer
None of my parts sources show a rear wiper arm available for your Yukon.

That does not mean that an arm isn't available.  It just may be that very few have been sold.

Try different auto parts stores, or even a salvage yard, for the arm.  Dealers aren't called "stealers" by most of us without a reason.  You have 900 reasons.
