GM-GMC: possible electrical short?, chevy s10, fuse block

Question
1992 Chevy S10 - courtesy lights and radio will not work.  Tape player does.  Put new fuses in and they burned out in 10 minutes. Origanal equipment and owner. Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Answer
Chevy had trouble with S-10 radios.  Most of the time, the radio kills the battery after the vehicle is turned off.  You may wish to consider replacing the radio/tape player with a different brand.

The courtesy lght problem may be due to a wire that has lost its insulation.  The wiring from the fuse block to the light will need to be checked.  This is difficult because the the wires often run above the headliner.

I recommend that you find a good auto eletric shop and allow them to try to find the problems.  These are among the hardest and most frustrating problems you can have with a vehicle.
