GM-GMC: 1998 Z71 K1500 4x4, poor connections, stereo head

Question
I got in my truck this moving on my way to work, turned the key but nothing happened, all of the accesories came on stereo, head lights etc..  but the motor did not turn over, tried to jump it but still nothing, when u turn the key u can hear one click thats it nothing more than that.  all the battery terminals are tight, so is my starter bad or maybe something else i should try?

Answer
Bad starter motor, bad battery/alternator, bad cable(s).

Anyone of the above may apply.  Have you tried jump starting the vehicle?

If your headlights dim when trying to crank the engine, there is probably something wrong with the starter or cables.

How old is the battery?  Remove it and get it tested.  Same thing applies to the alternator (it may not be charging the battery).

Poor connections or bad cable(s) can be detected by feeling the cable for warmth when trying to start the engine.  Any cable that gets warm indicates a problem.
