GM-GMC: r134 conversion, refrigerant, g20 van

Hello Harry,
 I am converting my 1984 G20 van to R134. I have done a few conversions with success. But one question has always bothered me. When filling system with r134 do you hold the can upright or upside down. I have always held up right. Have searched this question and seen a variety of answers. Thanks for your help.

I do not believe it matters what type of refrigerant you use.  I believe the concern is the proximity of the compressor to the fill port.  If it is close, and the can is inverted (liquid flowing into the system), you can "slug" the compressor, which is not designed to compress liquid.

As long as the system takes the proper amount of refrigerant, it matters not how it was installed.
