GM-GMC: power window motor 86 sierra, switch works, common tools

Question
dear sir. '86 gmc loaded power original 20,000km my drivers side power window goes down and back up an inch (tells me that the switch works and i've cleaned the contacts)it has always been slow, i have no idea even how to access the motor being that the door panel halves are folded together, you can hardly even see the motor would this be something better left to a pro? i have no garage and just common tools. i have had to replace female clips on switch for passenger side as they were corroded off but this does not seem to be the case, the switch will run both sides it just doesn't have enough balls to push the window back up.
any info would be greatly appreciated thanx

Answer
Jay,

It is very likely the motor.  The door panel comes off, but there are plastic clips and a special wire clip used to hold the door opening handle in place.

Unless you wish to be patient with 20 year old parts, the job is best done by an experienced mechanic.  If the interior of your vehicle is worn out, you can do the job yourself without worrying about making things much worse.

You should get a manual to guide you through the steps if you want to do the job yourself.
