GM-GMC: driver side windshield wiper doesnt work, windshield wiper motor, gmc jimmy

Question
Hi,  My wife has a 2000 GMC Jimmy, 4.3 v-6, automatic transmission and has about 134,000 miles on it.  The wiper has slightly malfunctioned before, by stopping all the way over to the driver side of the windshield.  She would stop and give it a little nudge and it would work fine again.  Not this time.  Your knowledge and expertise on this problem will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Bob

Answer
It is probably the wiper motor, but could be the linkage.

The first can be changed on most vehicles relatively easily but the second is one of the most diffcult items to work on in a vehicle.

If you are capable of general auto repairs you may want to try to replace the windshield wiper motor yourself and see if it cures the problem.

If not, take the vehicle to a qualified shop.
