GM-GMC: brakes, caliper piston, gm products

Question
right front brake on a 1977 chevrolet pickup keeps hanging up. after applying the brakes the caliper doesnt release for a period of time thus getting the rotor and even the wheel bearing extremely hot

Answer
You have a caliper piston that is sticking.

Rebuilt calipers for GM products of the 70s and 80s are dirt cheap.  It is not worth the time and effort to rebuild them yourself, so replace them.

They come with a lifetime warranty from AutoZone and others.

Consider replacing both calipers to prevent any pull to one side when braking.
