GM-GMC: Loss of power and clicking noise, spark plug wires, cadillac sedan deville

Question
Alicia,

I was wondering if you might have some information on what this problem might be.  I have a 98 Cadillac sedan deville with 100k miles.  I have noticed a clicking noise from the back side of the motor and also a "stutter" when I keep a constant acceleration.  My thoughts are that there is a short in one of the spark plug wires and that is what the clicking noise is.  Does it sound as if I am thinking correctly?

Answer
One of the problems is probably a carbon build up in the engine you should have this cleaned.

Northstar engines are notorious for that.

The clicking sounds like maybe the starter or possibly the distributor.

I would have to see the vehicle to really be sure hope this helps.
