GM-GMC: 1996 CHEVY TRUCK, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

I HAVE A 1996 CHEVY TRUCK WITH A 305 VORTEX ENGINE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. TRUCK WOULD NOT START CRANKS OVER OK. I CHECKED THE FUEL PUMP AND FOUND NOT WORKING  I APPLIED 12 VOLTS TO THE FUEL PUMP BY THE TANK WITH FUEL FILTER OFF AND A HOSE ATTACH FROM THE LINE TO A BOTTLE. NOTHING CAME OUT. SO I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP NOT A VERY EASY JOB ALL THE LINES WERE RUSTED OUT. THE FUEL CONNECTORS WERE RUSTED SHUT I ENDED BREAKING THEM OFF. ENDED BUYING FUEL SENDING UNIT WITH FUEL PUMP. NOW AFTER GOT IT TOGETHER. IT STILL WON T START BUT CRANKS FINE. I CHECKED FOR SPARK AND FOUND OK . FUEL PRESSURE OK .  POUR GAS INSIDE THE TBI PUT THE VORTEX BACK ON. THE ENGINE STARTS UP BUT DIES OUT. I TRIED COUPLE MORE GAS TO TBI AND IT RUNS AND QUITS.
 DID SOMETHING ELSE WENT BAD? FUEL PRESSURE REGULATORE? HOW IS THAT TESTED? I SEE LINES GOING TO THE TOP OF MANIFOLD SOME KIND OF VALVE OR CHAMBER. FUEL PRESSURE IS GOOD RIGHT THERE BY THE SHRADER VALVE BUT NOT GETTING TO THE TBI. CAN YOU HELP? WHAT ABOUT THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR ? THAT MAF IS CONNECTED JUST BEFORE THE TBI OF THE INTAKE TUBE. THIS GO BAD? HOW IS THE MAF TO BE CHECK? WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Are you getting ANY fuel spray from the injectors ?.

There is a high probability that some of your RUST got into the fuel line and has either partially restricted the fuel filter or has made it's way to the injectors and plugged up the injector screens and or the pressure regualtor.

The vehicle will start even with a faulty MAF.

Did you test the NEW fuel pump for proper pressure and fuel VOLUME. I have lost count of how many faulty NEW fuel pumps that I have replaced over the years. Which is WHY I always test every component by hand bEFORE I install it.
