GM-GMC: cruise control, cruise control system, gm products

Question
1994 chev silverado, 5.7lt, auto trans, 56K mi.
Cruise control works in all modes except accel.
To date the only thing I have tried is cleaning and reseating the connector to the cruise control electric motor servo.

Answer
I would suspect that the control switch is bad since all other modes of the cruise control system are working.
Changing the switch is not easy due to the way that the wires run through the steering column.  Sometimes you can cut the old wires at the switch end on the stalk coming off the steering column and tape the new wires to them.  The old wires then act as a guide to pull the new wires into place.  However, the job usually involves removing the steering wheel and that is a difficult task on GM products.
