GM-GMC: Engine Stalling and wont re-start, crank sensor, gmc pickup

Question
I have a 1997 GMC pickup with a 350 v8.

i was driving and came to a stop. as soon as i stepped on the gas pedal the engine just died. I put more gas in the tank but it wouldnt start. i pulled a spark plug out i didnt get a spark. I also replaced the alternator a week ago, might this have caused a problem, it was a 100% new alternator. any ideas?

Answer
Brian,

If you have a no-spark situation it probably had nothing to do with the Alternator replacement. If you have no spark at a spark plug I would try for spark at the coil. If there is no spark at the coil you probably have a problem with the Crank sensor or possibly a PCM problem. Its tough to say without the the peliminary checks. It would also be a good idea to see if you have fuel pressure, if you don't have either fuel or spark this could point you to a comon problem. Hope this helps.
