Honda: honda trans, automatic transmission, Honda reman

Question
QUESTION: I have an civic 2002 4 door lx the trans slips when shifting all gears I have changed the fluid with honda z1 car has only 60000 miles what can cause this? it has done this for a long time it lockes up well when you lift off the gas

ANSWER:  On the Honda cars as new as yours there can be a fault code stored in the car's PCM. If the car has an excessive slip in all forward gears I would expect there would be a code. How did the fluid that was drained look and did it have any foreign particles in the drained fluid? Have you had an experienced Honda technician drive the car? This truly sounds like a car that would need to be driven to diagnose.

Has your dealer advised you that the car needs the transmission replaced? Honda dealers use the Honda reman. program for automatic transmission failures. What they install has a 3 year 36k mile warranty. The best answer to the question of what would cause slipping in all gears would be a restriction of the transmission screen or a/t pump failure causing low line pressure. Either of these failures would require a transmission overhaul or replacement with a reman unit.
