Mercedes: convertible top, hydraulic pump, sl500

Question
The convertible top on my SL500 would not go down so I put the top down maunally now the top will not go up. The roll bar is also in the up position and I cannot get it to go down which I think is where the problem lies. If you can give me any suggetions on what to do I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Answer
Metal or Fabric?
I expect that there are micro in a sequence circuit to keep components from conflicting with each other.
If you can manually raise the top to the original position without too much effort, you may be able to reset the circuits.
If the top would not retract, did you check to see if a fuse had blown.
Until you can get the electrical corrected, you will not be able to deal with the switch issue.
I would check to make sure the fuse to the hydraulic pump is good first.
If you can hear the pump operating, then you will need to check to see if the fluid is at the proper level.
IF no then you will need to find the leak before adding more fluid.
Good Luck
