Mercedes: 1975 450SL, catalitic converter, allexperts

Question
i just purchased a 1975 450Sl, from what ive read, the 1975 has the catalitic converter in the engine compartment, where are they..?
if i look under the car, about midway between the engine bay and the muffler, there seems to be a catalitic converter inline, from pictures ive seen it seems to be the stock mercedes double inlet and double outlet unit...

Eric,
There are supposed to be located on each side of the engine blow the manifold. It is possible that they were removed and a single unit installed down stream under the car.
