Mercedes: Dead Battery?, Dead Battery, clicker

Question
I have a 2001 E430 Mercedes that has been idle for approx 2 mos, It's parked in the garage and I went to get in it the other day and I noticed the "clicker" wasn't opening the doors so i manually opened the driver's side door and tried the key in the ignition and nothing. I suppose the battery is dead, right? Can i get it re-charged?
Also, what other precautions should I take since the car has not been started in that time, before I try, once the battery issue is resolved. Thanks!

Answer
Joe,
How old is your car battery? A two month storage, should not be a problem if you have a good battery, unless the dome light or some other light was left on.

I would suggest that you take out the battery, be sure to remove the (-)ground post first then the positive to avoid arcing to the body; (install in the reverse order after charging) slow charge it or have it slow charged then take it to Auto Zone or similar store and have them run a battery check.
If it checks OK, take your key and manually lock all the doors and trunk.
Then install the fully charged battery.
This should reset the security alarm.
Now try the clicker to open the doors. If it still is not working, then replace the battery in the clicker with a new one.
Good Luck,
Let us know how it turns out.
