Mercedes: 1984 300d will not shut down, running ware, vacuum leak

how can I locate the problem / or ware do I start . car runs fine but will not shut down  when the manual kill is used it still wants to continue running . ware do I start

Hello Mark,
There sound like you have a vacuum leak. The mechanical mechanism at the injection pump may be worn and allowing some fuel to seep by.
The diesel must have interruption of fuel or air to keep it from running on.
