Mercedes: fuel system, copper tip, fuel pumps

Question
My 1989 mercedes 190e fuel pumps are not getting any voltage to them and I would think it would be the fuel relay.what do think? Thanks, Zach from New Orleans.

Answer
Zachary,
The relay controls the pumps and certainly could be your problem. You may also want to check the fuses. Determine which fuse feeds the pump system and do a through job of cleaning the contact. You my want to purchase some copper tip fuse as well. The bullet fuses are notorious for corrosion, particularly those using aluminum resistance strips.
Also pull the pump relay and wiggle it back into the socket. Corroded pins and sockets can play havoc with electronics.

The Mercedes forums site is also an excellent source of knowledge.
Good luck
