Mitsubishi: 90 eclipse fuel problem, fuel pump relay, fuse block

Question
My brother has a 1990 Eclipse GS 1.8 Non-turbo.  His fuel pump quit running.  I ran through the checks.  When I apply power to the test point the fuel pump comes on.  I checked the EFI relay located in the center console and it checks out.  However I can't find a seperate fuel pump relay.  I checked the caps in the ECU.  They aren't leaking.  He did have a blown fuse.  The one labeled "ROOM", lower right in the fuse block.  I replaced it and the dask started smoking.  I pulled it.  I am about 2 more days from toggle switching the fuel pump.  Help please.

Thanks,
Rusty S.

Answer
There is obviously a short. Take the car to an auto electronics specialist. These guys are very good at this stuff and will probably know what the problem is immediately. Fuses are there to protect the wiring and other components so be careful as to not light up the car in a blaze of premium fuel!
