Mitsubishi: Automatic Transmission, cottman transmissions, mitsubishi lancer

Question
when I drive my 2002 mitsubishi lancer 1.5 GDI, I noticed that the transmission not changing but the car runs fine, is this ok.

Answer
Hi Junior,

This could be because your transmission is in fail safe.
When the computer sees a problem within, it will go into this mode to help protect the transmission from further damage. This mode is usually in conjunction with a check engine light. If it is not a "hard" code then it will reset when you turn off the key until the computer sees the problem again. I suggest taking your car to a transmission shop that will scan it for you. Cottman Transmissions do this for free. After you have the code numbers from the scan, please resubmit them to me and I will gladly tell you what we need to do next.
