Car Stereos: sub/amp installation, amp fuse, guage wire

Question
I am hooking the visonik vb101pk amp and subwoofer in my car. The manual calls for a 50-amp fuse for the battery connection. I have a 60-amp fuse... is that ok? The sub is 300 W. Along the same lines, if I dont have the exact gauge wire they recommend, is it safe to be slightly higher or lower?

Answer
That battery fuse is really all about protection from a shorted power line burning down your car than to protect the amplifier. If amp has it's own fuse for protection, the 60 Amp fuse should be fine, if not, don't exceed the 50.
In regards to the power wire question, if you can't find the exact wire, then go to the next THICKEST wire... for example, if it's asking for 10 guage wire and you don't have it, go to 8 guage.. but don't go to 12 guage.
