Mitsubishi: overheated and now wont start, eqlipse, thanks in advance

Question
I have a 2001 mitsubishi eqlipse GT. I was on the freeway when my car suddenly lost power. I pulled over and found that for some reason the car overheated to the point it actually melted part of the cap to the overflow for the radiator and a small hole in the overflow container itself. The radiator seemed to be almost completely out of fluid, and the cap seemed to be damaged. I also noticed a bit of brown burnt looking fluid. All the other hoses are fine. I thought when it cooled I would be able to refill the radiator and be on my way but now it won't start at all. Could these be computer related? Or some other problem that was caused by the overheating. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Chad

Answer
Hi Chad,

There are so many reasons this could happen after that overtemp. First, check all the fuses and belts. Yeah, I know, but ya gotta. Second, does it crank but not start or does it just click? Third, did you have your oil changed immediately after this happened? Ok, resubmit, I'll try to be fast on the responses. This might take many or just a few. We'll see how it goes...
