Nissan: sensor, crank sensor, nissan maxima

I have an 95 Nissan Maxima the computer indicared with 4 slow blinks and 7 fast blinks that it is the crank sensor. Would this be right since the car back fires when I try to start it, but it will not start and sounds like the timing is out.

Follow my instructions exactly or this will end up costing you a fortune and there are no bulletins on this. Remove the transmission from the car. Clean the contact area between the bell housing and engine block to perfection. Reinstall the trans and put in a new Nissan Starter ( NO AFTERMARKET). Make sure the car has 5W30 Oil in in and in not overfull. MAKE SURE THE BELL HOUSING AREA AND BLOCK ARE SPOTLESS!!!!!!
