HI. I have an 89 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais. When i put coolant into the car, it starts to just pour out at the end of the tube. It seems as though there should be a plug at the end of the tube to prevent the coolant from coming out. Is there suppose to be a plug at the end of the coolant tube or is something else wrong? Thanks.

Eric ,

Coolant Tube ?

What exactly are you putting the coolant into ? Coolant Reservoir(plastic filler tank)?or Directly into the radiator via the metal cap? Also there is a "small" hose that comes from the base of the metal radiator cap to the coolant fill reservoir.

There are two hoses coming from the Radiator upper and lower. The top one(upper) feeds to the middle of the engine to the Thermostat housing. The lower is a bit tougher to see but should be noticeable.

Im filling it into the coolant reservoir.

Eric ,

Good. Now where exactly is the coolant leaking from ? You also made sure to fill the plastic reservoir to its max. fill line? not all the way to the top ?

The coolant is filled to the max line. But im using water for now because its just going to drip out. The leak is coming from the end of the tube. I track the coolant tube and it sort of comes to this dead end. At the end of the tube there is a hole from where the coolant pours out from. The end of the tube seems to be towards the back of the engine (towards windshield) and probably goes 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down the engine. It's also more towards the passanger side of the front seat.

Answer
Eric,

Sounds to me like your heater core hose fell off. Look along the passenger side firewall(border between engine and interior) there should be two male connectors sticking outward aiming towards the engine rear. Check and see if theres any fittings that aren't hooked up. If all else fails and the car is drivable take it down to a qualified mechanic. You don't want your engine overheating.

Cheers,
