Oldsmobile/Buick: AC/Heater Blower, oldsmobile 88, heater blower

Question
My car in a 1995 Oldsmobile 88 4 door V6.
The AC/Heater blower started blowing at the highest speed. I can't control it and it won't shut off even when the ignition is turned off and the key is out.
To get it to stop i had to take the positive battery cable off. Every time i put it back on it starts blowing at the highest speed again.
Could you tell me whats wrong and how i can stop it from blowing?
Thanks in advance,
dean

Answer
Dean ,

My expertise really only goes as far as the late 80's on these types of things . Sounds to me like the switch might have gone bad . Is it electronic control for the AC/heater ?

Look on the passenger side of the engine for a black hump with a large box connected to it , should have two wires connected . If you can't find it re-hook the battery up/don't start the car and listen for the blower . Find it and disconnect those two wires ( positive , ground) .

Take it down to someone and get it looked at . Pretty strange , thats a first on me .

Dean sorry I couldn't have been of any more help to you . It might be worth it to pick up the Hayne's manual for your car as well . If you have any more questions please feel free to ask . Don't forget to rate my response to you .

Cheers,
