Oldsmobile/Buick: oil, money max, oil 10

Question
Hello. This question is not particularly car-repair related...but maybe you can offer an idea. I happened to find some old plastic cans of engine oil (10-40 and 10-30), still sealed, about 40 of them in the garage the other day. Havoline. Shell. Penz. Maybe they're as much as 15 years old. Would you say they're still usable today? Thanks in advance --Max

Answer
Max,

I would not recommend using that oil at all (unless you really have to) . I don't know much about aging oil ,but do know I wouldn't want to take that chance .

If the bottles are really vintage looking then , get rid of the oil safely =) and hang them up in your garage .

If there are as many bottles as you say then , call up your local mechanic and ask . 40 bottles is a good bit of oil and could save you some money.

Max if you have any more questions then feel free to send another question . Don't forget to rate my response to you .

Cheers,

Ed McKenna
