Pontiac: Tranmission Leak, radiator coolant, coolant system

Question
I have a Pontiac Grand Am 1996 2.4L and I have engine coolant leaking by the transmission pan seal, I check over all the hoses and and water pump and was dry everywhere.  I noticed that there are two hoses that run from the radiator to the trany, what my question is there coolant running into the trany to cool it off and would be taking the pan off and replacing the seal fix it?

Answer
These 2 steel lines are for the cooling of the transmission fluid thru a SEPERATE cooling device that is built into the SIDE of the radiator.

Your easiest way to find the leak is to obtain a RADIATOR COOLANT PRESSURE TESTER of which attaches to the radiator where your radiator cap is attached.

This device has a hand air pump of which you pump up until the pressure on the gage MATCHES the MAXIMUM pressure allowable that is stamped on the radiator cap.

This will PRESSURIZE the coolant system and will make finding the coolant leak much easier.

You can usually RENT one from most any major auto parts store OR you can purchase one for about $50.00.
