Pontiac: coolant leak, head gasket failure, coolant leak

Question
my 97 grand am with a 3100 engine is losing water and i don't see any leaks.  I can put a quart in it and it will be 2 weeks before i have to put any more in it.  It got hot a month ago and steam was coming out of the front side of the engine but I couldn't see if it was the head gsk or intake gsk or what.  I found it was low on water at this time and started putting water back in it.  I mean anti freeze.   any ideas.  thank you

Answer
What you need to do is have the coolant system PRESSURE tested with a special tester that has a hand pump with a gae and a rubber hose and an adapter that attaches to where your radiator cap attaches to the radiator.

using this special tool, You simply pump up the tool to the maximum pressure as stated on the radiator cap and check under the vehicle for EXTERNAL leaks. If you find NO external leaks and the gage on the pressure tester starts to drop off, This would indicate an INTERNAL coolant leak, Most likely being a head gasket failure.
