Pontiac: misfire #2, pontiac grand prix, ac delco

Question
I have a 99 pontiac grand prix gt. 58,000 miles. 3.8 engine.  Recently I had the check engine light come on and took it to advanced auto, they told me it was a misfire in #2.  Change plugs, and wires.  My husband did that, but it still, when I start it and put in drive, but not accelerate, runs very rough, makes you shake in the car.  After you drive it, seems to go away, until you start it the next time.  I did not have the coil replaced yet, but I really am wondering if that is the problem if the car gets better as it drives.  Could it be the fuel injector?  What do you think.

Answer
Could be the coil or the injector or one of a thousand other things. You should take it to your local Pontiac dealer and have it diagnosed before you do any damage to the motor. Advanced Auto is a parts store, they DO NOT know how to diagnos problems. They DO know how to sell you parts that you probably dont need. Remember this, It will be cheaper to have it diagnosed than to start guessing and throwing alot of uneeded parts at it. Probably less than the plugs and wires you put on. By the way, your car did have a set of AC Delco Platinum plugs in it that should have lasted 100,000 miles. The wires will usually last longer than that.
