Saab: 1991 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible, clutch springs, saab dealership

Question
Clutch went to floor.  Had the master clutch cylinder replaced.  Lasted a little over a week.  Now mechanics believe it is the master slave cylinder.  Any instructions as to how to replace this.  I have found the part, just need help in "how to replace" .. Your help would be greatly appreciated.  My mom bought this car new, Limited yellow color.  She gave it to me about 4 years ago (which shocked me).  I love it!  It is is absolutely perfect condition.  She would never let anyone wash/clean it but herself, and all service was always done through a Saab dealership.  We no longer have one in Jackson, MS.  I have found some very good mechanics but I want to make sure this repair is done correctly.  Again, thank you so much!  Sharon

Answer
Sharon:
Your question is an important one because I have seen the results of not doing the job correctly by inexperienced mechanics...transmission damage resulting in perennial leaks is possible.  First:  The most important thing to remember is that the clutch springs MUST be kept in a depressed mode so that both the slave cylinder, throughout bearing, and clutch assembly including pressure plate and disc can be removed and replaced. This can be done by inserting either a special tool or fashioning a circle from .100" rod. Attached are some excerpts from a repair manual I've scanned in...hope this is helpful. [this website will not let me upload the necessary pages. If you send me your email address, I can attach them) If not, I recommend subscribing to <www.alldatadiy.com> for a downloadable data base of comprehensive repair info which will cover your car. It costs $25/vehicle/year, but is well worth it.
