Saab: saab 89 convertible 16-valve turbo, oil leaks, charging system

Question
in the past you need to buy a new battery every couple of years. the alarm
has been de-activated (shop couldn't believe it still worked). car lately will
not start on its own unless you jump it. when you drive it - the car runs great
and no noise just the normal hmm...of the turbo.  we have been the original
owners. i have been told car is in great conditions - some oil leaks that have
been taken care of. is not driven that often - mostly 2nd car. cannot give
exact miles since odometer has been broken. 1st 4 years driven but about 5k
or so each year. 2003-2007 it was driven regularly. i love the car

Answer
Diane:
I am sorry, but I do not understand the question.
Is it the fact that the car will not start on its own, unless "jumped"?  If so, then I would consider first replacing the  battery, and then doing a thorough checkout of the charging system...belts, alternator, etc.
     Hope this helps,
