Saab: Saab 9-5 2003, key in lock, wd 40

Question
A friend of mine has a Saab 9-5 2003 and when she has removed the key from
the ignition and opens the drivers side door, a beeping noise begins to happen.
What is the cause of this? Any ideas?

Answer
Bodie:
As stated in my profile, my hands on experience is limited to the older SAABS. However, my guess is that the "key-in-lock" warning is stuck in the on position; it should normally cause the beeping only if the key is left in the lock with the door open. You can try jiggling the key in the lock, or spray some wd-40 down the keyhole if you wish.
Nothing to be concerned about though.

   Hope this helps,
