Saab: Coolingf fan, saab 900, sensor wires

Question
1990 Saab 900 Turbo, 217,000 miles
Every time the engine cooling fan (RH side from the pass compartment) comes on the circuit fuse (35A) blows.
I changed the fan but got the same result.
I then disconnected the temperature sensor in the radiator (top left) and jumped the two sensor wires and, with the engine running, made and broke the jumped connection manually several times and the fan started/stopped every time without blowing the fuse. Can I conclude the temperature sensor needs replacing or are there other checks I should carry out?

Answer
Leslie:
Your car's wiring is such that if the either side of the temp. sensor switch has a connection to chassis ground, it will cause a short circuit and blow the fuse as you have experienced. Therefore, YES, you need to replace the temperature switch in question.

    Hope this helps,
