Saab: Car will not start., Saab fuel pump removal

Question
How do I change the Fuel Pump, and is it in the tank.  Do I have to remove the entire tank

Answer
Mark:
As noted in my profile, I can only advise for certainty on the pre-1993 900's. Since you did not state your year/model vehicle, bear that in mind. SAAB is extremely conservative, however, so its likely my comments below will apply.

Anyway, the pump is in the tank, and is readily accessible by lifting up the trunk/hatchback  floorboard. There is a round cover which can be easily pried out exposing the pump. The pump is held by a rubber boot which in turn is attached over the rim of the tank and tightened with a large hose clamp. Of course, you will also need to remove the several fuel lines (they typically pull out) and the electrical connections. The whole pump assembly can then be removed from the tank through the access hole.

                     Hope this helps,
