Saab: 92 Saab Turbo Conver, SAAB Transaxle changeover

Question
Hey Rick, first thanks for answering these questions, I've read through a bunch to see if you've mad any suggestions but don't see any?? The 3 Speed Auto Trans on my 92 Saab Turbo Convert is ab annoying drive... can it be replaced for a higher gear Trans or a Manual Traans? Which would cost less or be best??  Car is pretty great otherwise!  Thanks

Mike:
The last auto-to-stick changeover I did was on a 1974 Saab 99.So my personal knowledge is at best general. However, it should not be a difficult job, since the body fittings for the clutch pedal and clutch master cylinder should be available.[Check to be certain]. Besides the transaxle itself, you will need a new flywheel, shift console, shift rod connection and fittings, clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder, hydraulic hose, clutch slave, disk and pressure plate. Many of these items can be gotten from a junkyard.I  recommend the website ($25/year) <alldatadiy.com> for details.
The SAAB auto tranny was never a really strong item, so I would go for the stickshift option.
              Hope this helps,
