Saab: Same Gauges Glitch, saab 900, electrical fault

The dashboard gauges on my '95 Saab 900 work only occasionally. They work/don't work in a seemingly random manner. I am guessing there is an electrical fault somewhere. Any ideas where it may be?

  The most likely cause is a poor electrical connection somewhere. On the older SAABs with which I have hands-on experience (see my profile), the most likely place for such a connection problem is within the dashboard, on either side of the instrument cluster; there is a push-in multiconductor connector. On the older SAABs, it is accessible by removing the left front speaker grill mounted on the top of the dashboard; I do not know your model is configured.
